Public Lecture - Dealing with Violent Offenders, November 21st, 2011

The Human RightS Initiative (HRSI) is proud to announce the commencement of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender–based Violence campaign. This 16–day period spans from November 25th, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to December 10th, International Human Rights Day, in order to symbolically link violence against women and human rights.

We are cordially inviting you to an OPENING LECTURE entitled
 "Dealing with Violent Offenders”

 Speakers: Wiktor Osiatynski and Herta Tóth

Drawing on his research conducted for one of his latest books On Crimes and Punishments (2003) Wiktor Osiatynski will speak about sources of violence, the means to prevent violence, to help the victims of violence and to help the perpetrators unlearn violent behavior. Balance and mutual dependence of social, psychological and legal interventions will be discussed. Herta Tóth will discuss on how women are related to violent offenders, including domestic violence, battered women, and battered women as perpetrators.
